Warner Bros. has released the first official teaser trailer for their upcoming monster movie, The Bride.
The film's official synopsis reads, “A lonely Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!”
This latest adaptation stars Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley and Oscar winner Christian Bale as The Bride and Frankenstein's monster.
Buckley is best known for starring roles in Chernobyl (2019), I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020), MEN (2022), and The Lost Daughter (2021). Her performance in the latter earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Bale is best known for playing the role of Batman in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. The multi award-winning actor is also known for roles in American Psycho (2000), The Fighter (2010), and American Hustle (2013).
Penélope Cruz, Annette Bening, Peter Sarsgaard, Julianne Hough and Jake Gyllenhaal round off an impressive ensemble cast.
Maggie Gyllenhaal serves as writer and director for the film which is inspired by Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1818) and James Whale's Bride of Frankenstein (1935). The actress-turned-filmmaker made her writing and directing debut with 2021's The Lost Daughter, for which she received an Academy Award-nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
The Bride isn't the only Frankenstein adaptation on the way. Visionary filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro also steps into the world of Mary Shelley with his own version of the classic horror story. Released on Netflix in November, the film stars Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, and Mia Goth.
The Bride is set to release in cinemas on March 6, 2026.
