has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming prequel series, IT: Welcome to Derry.

Set 27 years before the events of IT (2017), the series will follow a different generation as they tackle the murderous entity known as Pennywise. Reports suggest that the series is planning a three-season arc, which will continue to jump back in time, covering several decades of Derry's bloody history.

The series will see return to reprise the role of Pennywise. The actor previously played the role in both IT (2017) and IT: Chapter Two (2019). The project sees Skarsgard reunite with director , who also returns to direct several episodes of the series. The filmmaker helmed the previous two big-screen adaptations.

Newcomers to the franchise include Taylour Paige (Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F), Jovan Adepo (The Stand), Chris Chalk (Gotham), James Remar (Dexter), Madeleine Stowe (Revenge), and Stephen Rider (Daredevil).

Speaking in a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Muschietti spoke more about the project and confirmed that the series will delve deeper into Stephen King's 1986 novel.

“This is a book we love a lot, and we felt that there was still a lot of story to be covered. It's so rich with characters and events, we thought we would do justice to the book and the fans by going back into this world. Specifically, we are telling the stories of the interludes, writings by Mike Hanlon based on his investigation that includes interviews he conducts with the older people in the town.”

IT (2017) was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $704 million worldwide. In doing so, it became the third-highest-grossing R-rated film at the time of its release.

IT: Welcome to Derry premieres on October 26th, 2025.
