A brand new film is in the works and we finally have our first casting news.

Per Deadline, franchise regulars and will return to reprise the roles of Cindy and Brenda. The pair first headlined the series in Scary Movie (2000) and went on to star in all but one of the subsequent sequels.

Said Farris and Hall in a joint statement, “We can't wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon—three men we'd literally die for (in Brenda's case, again).”

The film will see franchise creators the Wayans brothers return to write the script. Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) is set to direct.

“We couldn't be more excited to be a part of the new Scary Movie and work with each other again.” Said the Wayans in a recent statement. “This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago. We remember people laughing in the aisles and hope to see that happen again. We look forward to working with Jonathan Glickman and his team at the new Miramax to bring these laughs to theaters, where they belong. It's a double reunion.”

The first Scary Movie was released in 2000. It parodied several horror movies of the time, including Scream (1996), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), and The Blair Witch Project (1999). The film grossed $278 million at the worldwide box office from a reported budget of $19 million. Its success spawned four sequels. To date, the franchise has grossed nearly $900 million worldwide.

is set to begin shooting in October, and will be released in cinemas on 12 June 2026.
