Disney has cast Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim in their upcoming live-action adaptation of Tangled.

Croft and Manheim will play Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, respectively.

Michael Gracey directs, having previously directed Robbie Williams’ biopic Better Man (2024) and The Greatest Showman (2017). The Greatest Showman grossed $459 million worldwide and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song. According to The Hollywood Reporter, as in the original animated film, the live-action adaptation of Tangled “will have big musical elements”.

Gracey will direct a script from writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Robinson’s previous credits include Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) and I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)

Croft is best known for her role as Raven in the DC series Titans (2018-2023). She also played Jessica Watson in the sailing biopic True Spirit (2023), following Watson’s attempt to circumnavigate the globe as a sixteen-year-old.

Manheim previously starred as Zed in the Disney Zombies television film franchise.

Deadline meanwhile reports that WandaVision (2021) and Agatha All Along (2024) actress  is in talks to play Mother Gothel. Previously, Scarlett Johansson had been reported as being interested in the role, but she ultimately backed out due to production scheduling conflicts.

Kristin Burr is producing the adaptation. Burr’s previous credits include Freakier Friday (2025) and Cruella (2021), both also for Disney.

The original Tangled (2010) was a box office success, grossing $592 million worldwide. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Mandy Moore, known for A Walk to Remember (2002), voiced Rapunzel, while Zachary Levi voiced Flynn.

Following the success of Tangled, Disney released a short film, Tangled Ever After (2012), as well as a television series. The film has also been adapted into a musical.

No release window for the live-action adaptation has been confirmed.
