FrightFest Glasgow has announced its 2026 line-up as the genre festival prepares to return to the Glasgow Film Theatre for its 21st year.

Coming ahead of the UK’s largest horror festival, FrightFest, at London’s Odeon Luxe in August, its Scottish counterpart boasts five world premieres, eight new feature films, plus a short film showcase.

Opening FrightFest Glasgow on Thursday 5th March is the world premiere of Vasily Chuprina’s action thriller Jailbroken, set entirely within a single prison cell. The first full day on Friday begins with the UK premiere of twisty exorcism flick Bury The Devil, followed by the world premiere of Howard J. Ford’s creature feature Bone Keeper.

This will be followed by the UK premiere of Boorman and The Devil, a documentary directed by David Kittredge about Exorcist II: The Heretic. The main evening presentation will be the UK premiere of camp sci-fi horror comedy The Restoration at Grayson Manor, and closing the Friday will be the UK premiere of Kenichi Ugana’s shocking satire, The Curse.

Saturday begins with the international premiere of Connor Marsden’s Violence, followed by the festival’s second-ever short film showcase after its  successful inaugural year. The UK premiere of The Convenience Store follows, a movie adaptation of the popular Chilla’s Art game. The evening programme begins with Craig Conway’s directorial debut, Red Riding, reimagining the tale of Little Red Riding Hood, followed by the UK premiere of Karmadonna. Directed by Aleksander Radivojević, co-writer of A Serbian Film, it tells the story of “a pregnant woman given a brutal ultimatum by a divine voice to eliminate corrupt figures or lose her unborn baby.”

Closing FrightFest Glasgow will be Tristan Barr’s Deathkeeper, adapted from the novella series by Vasilios Bouzas.

FrightFest co-director Alan Jones said in a statement: “For 21 years, FrightFest has joyfully programmed for collective gasps, laughs, screams and applause from our ever-supportive audiences within the Glasgow Film Festival. This year’s prime selection of unusual films will innovate, challenge, thrill and amaze as we platform both features and shorts from the most creative talents working in the genre.”

Passes for FrightFest Glasgow go on sale at 10:00 on Friday 16th January. Tickets for the Thursday night film, Jailbreak, can be purchased separately, as well as individual tickets for Friday and Saturday films. They will be available to CineCard and CineCard+ members from Friday 23rd January, from 10:00. General Sale will then begin at 10:00 on Monday 26th January.

FrightFest Glasgow will take place from 5th March to 7th March at the Glasgow Film Theatre.
