Universal Pictures has released the official trailer for Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
The sequel to 2023's highest-grossing horror film promises to begin a blood-chilling new chapter of animatronic terror.
The film's synopsis reads: “One year has passed since the supernatural nightmare at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. The stories about what transpired there have been twisted into a campy local legend, inspiring the town's first ever Fazfest. Former security guard Mike and police officer Vanessa have kept the truth from Mike's 11-year-old sister, Abby, concerning the fate of her animatronic friends.
But when Abby sneaks out to reconnect with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, it will set into motion a terrifying series of events, revealing dark secrets about the true origin of Freddy's, and unleashing a long-forgotten horror hidden away for decades.”
Returning cast members include Josh Hutcherson as Mike, Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa, Piper Rubio as Abby, and Theodus Crane as Jeremiah.
Matthew Lillard will also return to play the iconic villain William Afton.
Newcomers to the franchise include McKenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Annabelle Comes Home), Wayne Knight (Jurassic Park, Seinfeld), Freddy Carter (Shadow and Bone, Pennyworth), and horror legend Skeet Ulrich (Scream).
The film will mark the on-screen reunion of Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard, who previously starred in Wes Craven's horror masterpiece Scream (1996).
Emma Tammi (The Wind, Blood Moon) will return to direct the sequel after helming the previous entry.
The Five Nights at Freddy's franchise is based on the video game series of the same name, which was created by game developer Scott Cawthon. Its success has led to the development of multiple sequels, spin-offs and book adaptations.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 will be released in cinemas on December 5th, 2025.
