Hulu's reboot has added new names to its main cast.

The upcoming series has already landed its new slayer, with (Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Firestarter) in the lead role. The reboot will also see reprise the role of Buffy Summers.

New reports have confirmed that several new cast members have joined the project. These include:

  • Faly Rakotohavana (Unprisoned)
  • Ava Jean (Law & Order: SVU)
  • Sarah Bock (Severance)
  • Daniel Di Tomasson (CSI: Vegas)
  • Jack Cutmore-Scott (Fraiser)

Per Deadline, “Rakotohavana will play Hugo, a privileged, a likable high-school student who is a geek. Jean will play Larkin, another student described as a “chronic do-gooder.” Bock will play Gracie, the ringleader for a group of church-going students. Di Tomasso will play Abe, Nova's single father who is a photojournalist. Scott will play Mr. Burke, a popular high school teacher.”

While plot details remain under wraps, the series is set to focus on a new slayer who is described as “an introverted high-school student named Nova.”

Speaking in a recent interview, Gellar spoke more about the project:

“We will try and find a balance between new and old characters. My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well. One of the surprising aspects of Buffy is that it's always been a crossover series. We're trying to figure out how to modernize the themes of the series, especially what it means to feel like an outsider in a world dominated by social media. What we want to explore are the space-time boundaries that affect society today.”

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) is set to direct the pilot, which was written by Nola and Lilla Zuckerman (Pokerface).
