Lionsgate has released the official trailer for its upcoming horror sequel, The Strangers: Chapter 2.
The second entry of the planned trilogy will see Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch return as the franchise's protagonist, Maya.
The film's synopsis reads: “The Strangers are back – more brutal and relentless than ever. When they learn that one of their victims, Maya (Madelaine Petsch), is still alive, they return to finish what they've started. With nowhere to run and no one to trust, Maya must survive another horrific chapter of terror as The Strangers – driven by a senseless, unceasing purpose – pursue her, more than willing to kill anyone who stands in their way.”
Director Renny Harlin will also return to helm the new film. The Finnish filmmaker previously directed The Strangers: Chapter 1 (2024) and other genre entries such as A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and Deep Blue Sea.
The film will also star Gabriel Basso, Rachel Shenton, Ema Horvath, Froy Gutierrez, and Richard Blake.
“I promise that we're making The Strangers—Chapter 2 as terrifying as possible, and I can't wait to show you on September 26,” Madelaine Petsch previously said of the film.
Producers Courtney Solomon and Mark Canton also added: “Like Strangers fans everywhere, we're thrilled for Chapter 2 — it's the kind of film that'll have audiences watching through their fingers. Bringing it to theaters this Halloween season feels perfect, and we can't wait for everyone to see where the story goes next.”
The Strangers was first released in 2008. Written and directed by Bryan Bertino, the film starred Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. It went on to gross a total of $82 million from a budget of only $9 million. A sequel titled The Strangers: Prey at Night arrived in 2018.
The Strangers: Chapter 2 will release in cinemas on September 26th, 2025.
