Netflix has announced the release date for the upcoming fifth and final season of Stranger Things.
Revealed at the streamer's Tudum event, Stranger Things season five will premiere on November 27th in the UK. The season will be split into three parts, with part two arriving on Christmas Day 2025 and the finale landing on New Year's Eve 2025.
The final season will consist of eight episodes.
The synopsis for season 5 reads: “The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.
As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they've faced before. To end this nightmare, they'll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”
Series regulars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, and Priah Ferguson all return.
Jamie Campbell Bower will also return as the demonic Vecna, the show's big bad from season four.
Newcomers to the series include Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, and Terminator star Linda Hamilton.
Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things debuted in July 2016. Its fourth season amassed over 140.7 million views globally, making it the second most-watched English language season in Netflix's history.
Several spin-off projects are reportedly in the works, including an animated series titled Stranger Things: Tales from '85.
Stranger Things Season 5 will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix on November 27, 2025.
