Netlfix has released the official trailer for the third and final season of Squid Game.
Unveiled at the streamer's Tudum event, the trailer offers a first glimpse at the bloody battle ahead for Gi-hun, his friends, and his enemies as they race toward the final round of Squid Game.
The synopsis reads: “Although Gi-hun is at his lowest point yet, the Squid Game stops for no one. So Gi-hun will be forced to make some important choices in the face of overwhelming despair as he and the surviving players are thrust into deadlier games that test everyone's resolve. With each round, their choices lead to increasingly grave consequences.”
The second season of Netflix's Squid Game was a huge success upon its release in December 2024, becoming the streamer's seventh most popular non-English TV show ever. It also broke the record for most views for a show in its premiere week with 68 million views, surpassing Wednesday season 1's 50.1 million.
Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk spoke more about the upcoming series at Tudum, saying: “The new season will focus on what Gi-hun can and will do after all his efforts fail. He is in utter despair after losing everything and watching all his efforts go in vain. The story then takes an interesting turn, questioning whether Gi-hun can overcome his shame and rise again to prove that values of humanity — like conscience and kindness — can exist in the arena.”
Season 3 will see Lee Jung-jae return as Gi-hun (Player 456). Lee Byung-hun will also return to play the role of Front Man.
Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-jun, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Jo Yu-ri, Chae Kuk-hee, Lee David, and Roh Jae-won round off the cast.
Squid Game Season 3 will arrive on Netflix on June 27th.
