Netflix has released the official trailer for Happy Gilmore 2.

Set thirty years after the original Happy Gilmore (1996), the film will see Adam Sandler return to play the former hockey player turned professional golfer. Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and Christopher McDonald will also return from the first film.

Newcomers to the franchise include Sandler's daughters Sadie and Sunny Sandler, Benny Safdie, and Margaret Qualley. Qualley was recently nominated at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards for her performance in The Substance (2024).

The film's cast also includes numerous sporting and entertainment figures. They include Bad Bunny, Eminem, and Travis Kelce. Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Becky Lynch and Maxwell Jacob Friedman also all feature.

What We Do in the Shadows (2019-2024) producer Kyle Newacheck directs. Newacheck and Sandler previously worked together on Murder Mystery (2019).

Happy Gilmore follows a wannabe hockey player with a short fuse who puts his aspirations on hold after discovering his talent for golf. Mentored by the legendary golfing veteran Derick “Chubbs” Peterson (Carl Weathers), Gilmore aims to win big and buy back his grandmother's house, which is at risk of being repossessed. To do so, he has to beat the best in the business, Shooter McGavin (McDonald), who looks down his nose at Gilmore and his ilk at every opportunity.

Sandler has previously spoken about the film and admitted that he was feeling the pressure of it living up to the original. During a guest appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, Sandler said “We just want to make sure that it all comes together and keeps it going from start to finish, and that's the goal. We'll see. We're definitely nervous, but we feel some sort of confidence.”

Happy Gilmore 2 will release on Netflix on 25 July 2025.
