Prime Video's upcoming Carrie television series has rounded off its main cast of characters.
Based on the classic horror novel by Stephen King, the series will be helmed by acclaimed director Mike Flanagan.
After reported talks earlier in the year, it has now been confirmed that Summer H. Howell has landed the titular role of Carrie White. The actress is best known for playing the role of Alice in Curse of Chucky (2013) and Cult of Chucky (2017).
She will star alongside Samantha Sloyan, who will play Carrie's mother, Margaret White. The actress has starred in numerous Mike Flanagan projects, including The Haunting of Hill House, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Midnight Club, and Midnight Mass. Sloyan also appeared in Flanagan's 2016 film Hush.
Scream (1996) and Five Nights of Freddy's (2023) star Matthew Lillard has also been confirmed to play the role of Principal Grayle.
Further additions to the cast include Amber Midthunder (Prey) as Miss Desjardin, Alison Thornton (School Spirits) as Chris Hargensen, Thalia Dudek (The Running Man) as Emaline, Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell) as Tina, Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) as Billy, and Joel Oulette (Nancy Drew) as Tommy.
The show's synopsis reads: “A bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White, who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father's sudden and untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public High School, a bullying scandal that shatters her community, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.”
King's horror novel was previously adapted by Brian De Palma in 1976. The film starred Sissy Spacek as Carrie. A 2013 remake was directed by Kimberly Peirce and starred Chloë Grace Moretz in the titular role.
