Thunderbolts* Leads The Way, Sinners Again Exceptional In Second (UK Box Office)

Disney's Thunderbolts* has opened at the top of the , earning £5 million across its debut weekend.

The 36th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, and Wyatt Russell as part of a team of anti-heroes and criminals who need to join forces against a sinister threat. Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, and Hannah John-Kamen also feature. Screen Daily reports that has recorded the MCU's 31st-highest opening, ahead of the £4 million of Ant-Man (2015) and behind the £5.4 million of Thor (2011).

Ryan Coogler's Sinners improved its takings by 4% compared to last week, with £2.5 million. This takes the vampire horror film's total to £11.3 million. stars Michael B. Jordan in a dual role as twins who return to their hometown, only to find an unspeakable evil waiting for them. Hailee Steinfeld and Miles Caton also star.

A Minecraft Movie has fallen to third place with £2.1 million. This takes its total to £54.1 million after five weeks. is set to overtake The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) this week as the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time.

, starring Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal, is fourth with £636,852. This takes Gavin O'Connor's sequel up to £1.9 million. It is ahead of the horror game adaptation Until Dawn, whose £331,788 intake brings David F. Sandberg's film up to £1.3 million.

Outside of the top five, The Penguin Lessons starring Steve Coogan is now up to almost £2.8 million. Alex Gardland's Warfare, meanwhile, is now up to £2.5 million. Academy Award winner Flow, directed by Gints Zilbalodis, added £37,743 during its seventh weekend in UK cinemas. This takes the Latvian animation up to £2.1 million for Curzon.
