Sorry, Baby To Open 78th Edinburgh International Film Festival

The 78th Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) will open with 's acclaimed comedy drama Sorry, Baby.

Victor's first directorial feature premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, where she won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award.

Barry Jenkins has produced the film for A24. Jenkins previously won the Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay for Moonlight (2016). He also produced Charlotte Wells' directorial debut Aftersun (2022).

Victor also stars alongside Blink Twice (2024) and Mickey 17 (2025) actress , and Academy Award nominee .

The synopsis reads “Something bad happened to Agnes (Eva Victor) but life goes on… for everyone around her, at least. When a beloved friend visits her, Agnes starts to realise just how stuck she has been, and begins to work out how to move forward.”

Sorry, Baby will also be screened as part of Directors' Fortnight at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. It will subsequently be released this year by Picturehouse Entertainment in the UK.

The runs from August 14 to August 20, 2025.
