House of the Dragon star is set to star in 's upcoming horror film, .

Set in 1960s Italy, “the film follows Sally Bishop (Cooke) and her husband who travel to a remote villa in the wake of Sally's nervous breakdown. The villa's owner, a mysterious count, takes a peculiar interest in Sally. But he gets far more than he anticipated when Sally's feminist chaos is added to his perfect, violent Eden of vampire brides.”

The film is said to be loosely based on Bram Stoker's horror classic Dracula and is described as “gothic, glamorous, and gory.” It is set to deliver a tale that will “flip Bram Stoker's narrative on its head, exploring the struggle between societal repression and carnal desire.”

Cooke is best known for playing the role of Alicent Hightower in the smash-hit HBO series House of the Dragon. She has also previously starred in the contemporary Psycho prequel series, Bates Motel. Other acting credits include Ready Player One (2018), Me, Earl and the Dying Girl (2015), and Slow Horses.

She takes over the role vacated by , who exited the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Writer and director helms the project. The filmmaker previously made her feature debut with the 2022 Hitchcockian thriller Watcher. She is also known for writing and directing the award-winning horror short Slut and for helming the “Storm Drain” segment of V/H/S 1994. Other directorial credits include work on the series Let The Right One In and Teacup.

Brides will be yet another entry into Neon's growing catalogue of horror films. The studio has had much success recently with films such as The Monkey, Immaculate, and Longlegs. The latter became one of the highest-grossing horror movies of 2024.
