Warner. Bros has released the official trailer for the upcoming horror/thriller film, Weapons.
The film's synopsis reads, “When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.”
The film will be written and directed by Zach Cregger, who first gained recognition in the horror genre with his debut feature Barbarian in 2022. The film became one of the year's most acclaimed horror films and is known for delivering many twists and turns.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cregger teased that, like Barbarian, his latest outing will also keep audiences guessing throughout: “The movie will fork and change and reinvent and go in new places. It doesn't abandon that question, believe me, but that's not the whole movie at all. By the midpoint, we've moved on to way crazier shit than that.”
He also added: “I wanted a horror epic, and so I tried to do that. It is more ambitious [than Barbarian] in almost every way. I don't just mean in terms of the budget, but I just mean creatively. The story is weirder and it's twistier and it's bigger. The set pieces are definitely bigger. It's just a bigger, weirder movie than Barbarian is.”
The film stars Julia Garner and Josh Brolin. Garner plays the role of Justine Gandy, the teacher of the children who have been vanishing. Brolin plays the role of Archer Graff, the father of one of the missing children, who finds it suspicious that only children from Justine's class disappeared.
The film also stars Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan.
Weapons will release in UK cinemas on August 8th, 2025.
