Marvel Studios has released an official trailer The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

The footage for the most recent adaptation of the Fantastic Four comic series was first shown during Disney's panel at Cinema-Con. It will introduce the beloved superhero team to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The cast includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

The beginning of the trailer offers a fresh look at Marvel's First Family who live in a 1960s “retro-futuristic world”. Their origin story is surmised in the first twelve seconds; four brave astronauts venture into space only to return with superpowers after an exposure to cosmic radiation. They have since become America's legendary heroes and live together as a happy family. Storm also reveals that she is expecting a baby with Richards.

However, the sudden arrival of the Silver Surfer disrupts this peaceful life by declaring Earth “marked for death.” Audiences last saw the familiar antagonist in 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, where Doug Jones portrayed the role with Laurence Fishburne providing the voice. This adaptation will see a female version of the villain, played by Ozark actress Julia Garner.

Also joining the cast is Sherlock star Mark Gatiss as talk show host Ted Gilbert, and Ralph Ineson as Galactus, who briefly appears at the end of the trailer.

Matt Shakman, best known for his work on the series WandaVision, will direct the script of Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Kevin Feige produced the film for Marvel Studios with Louis D'Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis also serving as executive producers.
