Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood have joined the cast for the upcoming sequel to the horror-comedy Ready or Not (2019).
The official title for the sequel has also been confirmed as Ready or Not: Here I Come. Deadline reports that principal photography began yesterday. No release date for the film has been confirmed.
Gellar is best known for playing the titular role of Buffy Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003). Her other credits include I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), Cruel Intentions (1999) and Scooby-Doo (2002). She currently stars in the Dexter (2006-2013) prequel series Dexter: Original Sin.

Wood is best known for his starring role as Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001-2003). Other credits include Deep Impact (1998) and Sin City (2005). His more recent roles include appearances in Yellowjackets (2023-2025) and The Monkey (2025).
Furthermore, horror director David Cronenberg has also been added to the cast. Cronenberg is best known for directing features such as Videodrome (1983), The Fly (1986), and Crash (1996).
Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, and Kevin Durand have also been added to the cast.
They will join the previously announced Kathryn Newton and Samara Weaving. Weaving also starred in the first film as the protagonist, Grace, and is reprising the role for the sequel. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, better known by their group name Radio Silence, will also be returning to helm the sequel. Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy are writing the script.
In a statement, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett said “We’re thrilled to be returning to the world of Ready or Not with Samara, Brett, Avery and Andrew, and are so excited to work with this immensely talented cast and the incredible artists across every department joining the Ready or Not family.”
