Netflix has released a first look at the upcoming drama film The Thursday Murder Club, based on Richard Osman's successful crime thriller of the same name. The film will be released exclusively on Netflix on 28th August 2025.
The story follows four irrepressible retirees – Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley), and Joyce (Celia Imrie) – who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun. But when an unexplained death occurs on the doorstep of their quaint retirement home, their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn as they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands.
The film will be directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Chris Columbus, whose most renowned works include Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, and the first two entries of the Harry Potter franchise. Columbus' film is the latest to be produced through the Netflix and Amblin Entertainment partnership, with Steven Spielberg notably being involved with the production.
Other cast members include Jonathan Pryce, David Tennant, Naomi Ackie, Tom Ellis, and Richard E Grant.
Netflix's exclusive “first look” images showcase the four retirees during their weekly true crime meetings, putting their investigative abilities to the test.
