I Know What You Did Last Summer Trailer Released

Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for .

The film's synopsis reads, “When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they're forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.”

Both and Freddie Prinze Jr. will return to the franchise, reprising the legacy roles of Julie James and Ray Benson. The duo previously starred in the original 1997 slasher film of the same name alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe. They also led the first sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998).

Newcomers to the franchise include Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Jonah Hauer-King, and Tyriq Withers.

The latest franchise entry will be directed by , the filmmaker behind the Netflix dark comedy film Do Revenge. Robinson also co-wrote the script with Sam Lansky, from an original story by Leah McKendrick.

“It is not a serious movie. It is a really fun, popcorn summer event,” said Robinson in a recent interview with People. She also warned that “it's much more brutal. There's not a lot of gore or blood or violence in the first [movie]. There certainly is in this one.”

I Know What You Did Last Summer will release in UK cinemas on July 18th, 2025.
