Disney has released a brand-new teaser trailer and official key art for the upcoming series, Alien: Earth. The announcement came on #AlienDay, the annual day of celebration for the Alien franchise.
Set in the year 2120, the series will take place two years before the events of Ridley Scott's original film.
The series synopsis reads, “When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat. As members of the crash recovery crew search for survivors among the wreckage, they encounter mysterious predatory life forms more terrifying than they could have ever imagined. With this new threat unlocked, the search crew must fight for survival, and what they choose to do with this discovery could change planet Earth as they know it.”
The series will star Sydney Chandler and Timothy Olyphant. Chandler is best known for playing the role of Violet in Don't Worry Darling (2022), alongside starring in the Disney+ limited series Pistol. Olyphant is known for his work as Sheriff Raylan Givens in Justified. He has also featured in The Mandalorian, Scream 2 (1997), and The Crazies (2010).
Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diêm Camille and Moe Bar-El round off an expansive international cast. The series will be helmed by Noah Hawley.
The Alien franchise first launched in 1979 with Scott's classic sci-fi/horror Alien. It was followed up by James Cameron's Aliens, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest sequels ever made. Subsequent sequels have since been released, including Alien Resurrection (1997), Prometheus (2012), and Alien: Romulus (2024).
Alien: Earth is set to stream exclusively on Disney+ in 2025 in the UK & Ireland.
