HBO has released a new trailer for the upcoming second season of The Last Of Us.
The acclaimed Max series sees Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return as Joel and Ellie. Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley also return to reprise their roles of Tommy and Maria respectively.
The official synopsis for season two reads “After five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie's collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”
The horror series will also introduce a wave of new cast members. This includes Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award nominee Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, and Isabela Merced as Dina.
Also joining the cast are Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, and Tati Gabrielle as Nora. Spencer Lord, Danny Ramirez, Jeffrey Wright, Joe Pantoliano, and guest star Catherine O'Hara complete the main cast.
Series co-writer and director Craig Mazin recently spoke about the new season. He told The Hollywood Reporter “A lot of what's going on in the season is evolution and change. Ellie is growing up, and she is changing. This town of Jackson is growing up. It is expanding. It's taking in refugees. And the world outside is changing. It was important to us to always move the ball forward with the infected. It's not a question of just more, but something else, something that is meaningful to what is going on, so they don't just become NPCs.”
The Last of Us season one was HBO's most-watched debut season in its history. The series was also nominated for a total of 24 Emmy awards, winning eight of them.
The Last of Us Season 2 premieres on 14th April 2025.
