Mickey 17 Debuts Top of The Charts (UK Box Office)

's Mickey 17 has opened at the top of the with £2.1 million.

The science fiction black comedy, starring Robert Pattinson, centres on a research worker who repeatedly dies on his missions and is then cloned so he can be sent out for more, complete with all his old memories and personality. This is complicated however when he unexpectedly returns from a mission to find that a new clone has already been produced. The also stars Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.

Screen Daily reports that has scored the highest ever debut for a Bong Joon-ho film, topping the £1.1 million debut of Parasite (2019).

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is second, also with £2.1 million. The fourth film in the series is closing in on the £42.1 million total gross recorded by the original Bridget Jones' Diary (2001).

Another new entry in the top five is Marching Powder, directed by Nick Love. The film stars Danny Dyer as a middle-aged drug addict and football enthusiast who tasks himself with getting clean in six weeks. The 18-rated comedy has opened with £1.1. million for True Brit.

Captain America: Brave New World moves down to fourth place with £614,000, which takes it up to £16.8 million. It is ahead of Universal's animation Dog Man, which added £373,654. This takes it to a total of £12.5 million.

Another new entry this week is One Of Them Days, starring Keke Palmer and SZA. The buddy comedy film opened with £193,758.

Sean Baker's Anora recorded a 451% increase at the following its success at the 97th Academy Awards. It made £179,059 during its 19th week in cinemas, and is now up to £2.6 million.
