Arrow Video has announced that they will be releasing Mary Dauterman's comedy-horror Booger on Blu-ray and digital next month, following its limited theatrical release last year.
Arrow's official synopsis of Booger reads “Anna, a young New Yorker, is consumed with overwhelming grief after the sudden death of her best friend and roommate, Izzy. Struggling to cope, Anna becomes fixated on finding Booger, the stray cat she and Izzy took in together. When she finally tracks the cat down, an unexpected bite to the hand triggers a bizarre and unsettling transformation, causing Anna to gradually take on more feline characteristics.
“With a unique blend of horror, humour and heart, Booger transforms the mundane into the macabre, delivering a deeply human exploration of love, loss, and the strange ways we cope with pain.”
A newly released clip from the film, shared exclusively with FILMHOUNDS, shows Anna eating tins of cat food and coughing up a hairball.
Booger marks Dauterman's feature debut and first premiered at the 2023 Fantasia Film Festival.
Ahead of the film's premiere, Dauterman spoke about the film's exploration of trauma and relationships. She told Variety that “Booger is a disgusting comedy about grief. Or a body horror that's funny and sad. Or a tragedy that makes you laugh and squirm. It's the nuanced story I wanted to tell about the joys of friendship, the pain of loss, and the dizzying search back to your center after a crisis.”
The film stars Grace Glowicki as Anna and Sofia Dobrushin as Izzy. Garrick Bernard, Heather Matarazzo, and Marcia DeBonis also feature in the main cast.
The ultimate edition Blu-ray release includes two video essays, an illustrated collector's booklet, and a reversible sleeve featuring newly commissioned artwork.
Booger is released on Blu-Ray and digital on 7th April 2025 courtesy of Arrow Video.
