A Complete Unknown has stayed at the top of the UK box office for a third week, while sci-fi thriller Companion opens in fourth.
The Academy Award-nominated drama, directed by James Mangold, took in £1.2 million. Screen Daily reports that the film is projected to overtake the £10.4 million total of Mangold's other award-winning musical, Walk the Line (2005).
Mufasa: The Lion King remains in second with £1.1. million. This takes its total box office gross to £29.3 million after seven weeks. It is ahead of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 with £708,000, taking its total to £24.1 million. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022) grossed £27 million during its theatrical run.
Companion, directed by Drew Hancock, has grossed £670,512 across its opening weekend. The film follows a couple (played by Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid) who indulge in a weekend getaway to a luxury cabin with their friends. However, things turn violent when they learn that one member of their group is not human. The thriller also stars Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, and Harvey Guillén.
Companion is Hancock's feature directorial debut. He previously co-created the limited series My Dead Ex (2018) and co-wrote episodes of the animated comedy show Mr. Pickles (2014-2019) for Adult Swim.
Brady Corbet's The Brutalist fell 14% to take in £607,434 during its second weekend in cinemas. Universal has also expanded the film's distribution from 170 to 308 locations.
Flight Risk, directed by Mel Gibson, added £451,241 from its second weekend to take its total up to £1.7 million. It is ahead of Disney's animated sequel Moana 2, which added £408,855 during its tenth weekend in cinemas.
Robert Eggers' Nosferatu grossed £312,361 across its fifth weekend in cinemas. This takes the vampire horror reboot's total up to £12.5 million for Universal.
