Universal has released the first official trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth.
The standalone sequel to Jurassic World Dominion (2022) is the seventh film overall in the Jurassic Park franchise, which began with Jurassic Park (1993).
Scarlett Johansson leads the cast as the covert operations expert Zora Bennett, who leads a crew tasked with obtaining genetic material from the dinosaurs. Her team crosses paths with a civilian family who have been marooned on the deadly island.
The official synopsis reads “Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.”
Jonathan Bailey, best known for Bridgerton (2020-present) and Wicked (2024), also stars alongside two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali. Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo complete the main cast.
The film is directed by Gareth Edwards from a script by David Koepp. Koepp wrote the original Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), which were both directed by Steven Spielberg.
Edwards is best known for films such as Godzilla (2014), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), and The Creator (2023). Edwards replaces David Leitch, who left the project in February 2024.
The Jurassic Park franchise has made over $6 billion at the worldwide box office. The latest three films have all grossed over $1 billion each, with Jurassic World (2015) currently ranking as the ninth highest-grossing film of all time.
The franchise also consists of two animated series for Netflix and numerous video games.
Jurassic World Rebirth will be released in UK cinemas on 2nd July 2025.
