A24 has released an official teaser trailer for their upcoming horror film, Bring Her Back.
Danny and Michael Phillipou, the filmmaking duo behind Talk to Me (2022), will direct the feature, which follows the story of a brother and sister who uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.
Bring Her Back marks the second feature directorial entry for the Australian directors. The pair made a name for themselves on YouTube under the pseudonym of RackaRacka. Their channel has over 1.1 billion views. The duo previously told GQ Magazine that “we always wanted to get into film, and it was time. YouTube are pretty strict with their guidelines [now], so we went back to what we wanted to do, and make films.”
The new feature stars the Academy Award-nominated actress Sally Hawkins. Hawkins is best known for her work in Guillermo Del Toro's The Shape of Water (2017). Her other notable credits include Blue Jasmine (2013) and Wonka (2023) as well as roles in the Paddington and MonsterVerse franchises.
Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, and Sally-Anne Upton make up the rest of the main cast.
Bring Her Back was originally announced in April 2024.
Talk to Me premiered at the Adelaide Film Festival before being acquired by A24. The film became the studio's highest-grossing horror movie of all time, earning $92 million worldwide from a budget of only $4.5 million. It also received awards for Best Picture and Best Direction at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts awards. A sequel, Talk 2 Me, is currently in development.
A24's previous horror titles include Hereditary (2018), Midsommar (2019), The Witch (2015), Heretic (2024), and Ti West's X Trilogy.
Bring Her Back is expected to be released in the UK later this year.
