Global Box Office — Mufasa: The Lion King Still Leading The Way

Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King has remained at the top of the global rankings, taking its worldwide gross to $476.4 million.

Mufasa, a prequel to The Lion King (2019), made an additional $77.3 million. The title fell 35% in North America and 31% internationally. However, Screen Daily reports that Mufasa has currently made just 29% of its predecessor's $1.66 billion tally.

The film stars Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Taka, and John Kani as Rafiki.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is in second place with $72.4 million. This takes its worldwide gross to $336.3 million, moving it ahead of Sonic the Hedgehog (2020).

Robert Eggers' Nosferatu is in third, becoming the first of Eggers' films to break $100 million globally. The vampire horror remake, starring Bill Skarsgård and Lily-Rose Depp, made an additional $40 million.

Moana 2 is fourth with $38.4 million, taking Disney's animated sequel to $960.5 million. Wicked is fifth with $21 million. John M. Chu's musical fantasy has reached $681.3 million at the global box office. It has overtaken Mamma Mia! (2008) as the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation of all time.

Mandarin-speaking production Octopus With Broken Arms is next with $15.7 million, taking it to $74.2 million from three territories. It is ahead of Big World, which made an additional $11.1 million having only been released in China.

Finist, The First Warrior made $9.4 million across its opening weekend. Although it has only opened in Russia, it is ahead of the musical drama A Complete Unknown, starring Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan. James Mangold's biopic made $8.1 million for a $41.7 million running total.

Biao Su's Honey Money Phony rounds out the top ten with $7.3 million for a $28.9 million total.
