The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has revealed their five nominees for this year's EE Rising Star Award.
The nominees include Marisa Abela, who has been recognised for her performance as Amy Winehouse in the biopic Back to Black. Also nominated are Jharrel Jerome, who took on the role of Anthony Robles in Unstoppable, and David Jonsson for his portrayal of Andy in Alien: Romulus. Mikey Madison for her performance as the titular character in Anora and Nabhaan Rizwan for his depiction of Aden in In Camera round out the nominations.
In a statement, Madison said “I am so honoured and grateful to BAFTA and EE for this nomination and for including me amongst this year's spectacular nominees.”

Abela, Jonsson, and Rizwan have all starred in Mickey Down and Konrad Kay's television series Industry.
The nominees were announced at The Savoy Hotel in London, during a ceremony co-hosted by actor Jack O'Connell and film critic Ali Plumb.
The award was “created in honour of the late Mary Selway, a visionary casting director who dedicated her life to discovering and championing talent,” according to BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip. The award was first presented in 2006.
Previous winners include Tom Hardy, James McAvoy, and Lashana Lynch. Last year's Rising Star Award went to Mia McKenna-Bruce for her performance in How To Have Sex.
Unlike the winners in the other categories, which the BAFTA members choose, the EE Rising Star winner is decided by a public vote. The winner will be announced on the 16th of February at the Royal Festival Hall during the 78th British Academy Film Awards, hosted by the returning David Tennant and broadcast on BBC One.
You can cast your vote for the EE Rising Star Award here. Voting closes at 12:00 on 14th February 2025.
