Universal's The Wild Robot has returned to the top of the UK box office following its third weekend in cinemas.
DreamWorks' animated science fiction adventure posted a 12% increase on the previous week with £2.17 million. Screen Daily reports that this is due largely to a boost in ticket sales over the half-term holidays.
Venom: The Last Dance also posted £2.17 million, a 49.5% drop compared to its debut weekend; the third film in the Venom trilogy is currently tracking lower than either of the two preceding entries Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021).
A24's Heretic, starring Hugh Grant, has opened in third place with £1.5 million. Including previews, this means that the horror thriller has posted the biggest-ever full opening weekend for an A24 title at the UK box office, ahead of Hereditary (2018). Heretic centres on two Mormon missionaries who become ensnared in a fight for survival after attempting to convert a mysterious English gentleman.
Tim Mielants' Small Things Like These, starring Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy, has opened in fourth place. The Irish feature has made £889,613 across its opening weekend at the UK box office. It is ahead of Smile 2, which made an additional £600,000 in its third week for a cumulative total of £5.5 million.
The Indian comedy-horror Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has opened with £408,274. It is ahead of Paramount's Transformers One with £388,000. This takes the animation's UK box office total to £4.4 million.
Universal's Anora, the latest film from American director Sean Baker, has opened with £376,074. The award-winning drama focuses on the marriage between a stripper and the son of a Russian oligarch. Baker is best known for directing the transgender comedy-drama Tangerine (2015) and The Florida Project (2017) starring Willem Dafoe.
