Sony Pictures has released a trailer for their upcoming Valentine's Day-themed horror film, Heart Eyes.
The film's synopsis reads “For the past several years, the ‘Heart Eyes Killer' has wreaked havoc on Valentine's Day by stalking and murdering romantic couples. This Valentine's Day, no couple is safe…”
Heart Eyes stars Mason Gooding and Olivia Holt in the leading roles. Gooding is best known for playing Chad Meeks-Martin in Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023). He also featured in Fall (2022) and had a starring role in the teen drama series Love, Victor (2020-2022).
Holt's previous credits include the role of Kate Wallis in the Amazon Prime series Cruel Summer (2021-2023). She also stars in Amazon's teen slasher film Totally Killer (2023) and the Marvel Cinematic Universe series Cloak & Dagger (2018-2019).
Jordana Brewster, Gigi Zumbado, and Devon Sawa also feature in the cast.
Dan Cohen, Paramount's Chief Content Licensing Officer, previously told Deadline “Olivia Holt is perfect for this kind of role and so is Mason Gooding”. Furthermore, Cohen commented that Spyglass, who are producing, “know the horror genre inside out.”
Paramount is handling the film's international distribution via their acquisition-only label Republic Pictures.
Josh Ruben will direct from a script written by Phillip Murphy, Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy. Ruben previously helmed the horror comedies Werewolves Within (2021) and Scare Me (2020). He is also set to direct the upcoming sci-fi horror Green Bank.
Landon and Kennedy also previously collaborated on the script for Freaky (2020), which Landon directed. The body swap horror comedy stars Vince Vaughn, Kathryn Newton, and Katie Finneran.
Furthermore, Landon is best known for writing and directing Happy Death Day (2017) and its sequel Happy Death Day 2U (2019), starring Jessica Rothe.
Heart Eyes will be released in UK cinemas on 7th February 2025.
