In the new Sky Original thriller Sweetpea, based on the novel of the same name, Rhiannon (Ella Purnell) has a kill list. Some of them are, admittedly, relatable: awful bosses, annoying manspreaders, ignorant shopkeepers. But at the top of Rhiannon's list is childhood bully Julia.
Played by Nicôle Lecky, Julia has a great career, supportive friends, a loving partner, and a killer passive-aggressive smile whilst laying down some brutal remarks. Before Sweetpea‘s premiere on October 10th, FILMHOUNDS sat down with Lecky to discuss how fun it can be playing such a terrible person.
“She's saying things you shouldn't, wouldn't, say, so it's quite fun being on set and getting to let loose in a safe environment… she's sort of saying [horrible things] to deflect, I think, from some of the stuff she's also going through.”
You can watch the full interview with Lecky below, where she discusses the origins of being cast, building relationships on set, and who wold be on her kill list.
