Universal Pictures has released the first full trailer for Robert Eggers' adaptation of Nosferatu.
The official synopsis reads “Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.”
Eggers is best known for films such as The Witch (2015), The Lighthouse (2019), and The Northman (2022).

The cast includes Bill Skarsgård as the vampiric Count Orlok, Nicholas Hoult as Thomas Hutter, and Lily-Rose Depp as his wife Ellen. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, and Willem Dafoe also feature in the ensemble cast.
The upcoming horror is Eggers' fourth feature film. It also marks his third collaboration with the four-time Academy Award nominee Dafoe, and his second with Ineson.
Nosferatu was first announced in 2015, with Anya Taylor-Joy originally cast in Depp's role as Ellen. Taylor-Joy left the film due to scheduling conflicts. Deadline also reported that Harry Styles was originally tipped to star in an undisclosed role.
Eggers' new film is a remake of F.W. Murnau's German Expressionist horror Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922), starring Max Schreck as Count Orlok. Dafoe previously portrayed Schreck in the gothic mystery film Shadow of the Vampire (2000), which is a fictionalised account of the making of Murnau's film.
Furthermore, Murnau's picture is an unlicensed and unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker's classic vampire novel Dracula (1897).
Eggers' first feature film The Witch won Best First Screenplay and Best First Feature at the 32nd Independent Spirit Awards. The Lighthouse was nominated at the 92nd Academy Awards, the 73rd British Academy Film Awards, and the 25th Critics' Choice Movie Awards.
Focus Features has also released a line of merchandise to accompany the trailer and the newly released poster.
Nosferatu will be released in UK cinemas on 1st January 2025.
