Teaser Released For Horror Thriller Companion

Warner Bros. has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming horror thriller, Companion.

The film's official synopsis reads “The studio that brought you The Notebook cordially invites you to experience a new kind of love story.”

Companion stars and in the leading roles. Thatcher is best known for playing the role of Natalie Scatorccio in the Showtime series Yellowjackets. She also featured in the recent big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's The Boogeyman (2023), and had a supporting role in Ti West's MaXXXine (2024). Additionally, she is starring alongside Hugh Grant and Chloe East in A24's upcoming horror Heretic.

Quaid is best known for playing Hughie Campbell in the Amazon Prime TV series The Boys and Superman in Adult Swim's animated series My Adventures with Superman. He also stars in Scream (2022) and the Oscar-winning historical drama Oppenheimer (2023).

Rupert Friend, Harvey Guillén, and Megan Suri also feature in the cast.

Companion marks the feature directorial debut of Drew Hancock, who also penned the script. Hancock's previous work includes writing credits on series such as My Dead Ex and Suburgatory.

The film comes from producer Zack Cregger, writer and director of Barbarian (2022). The horror thriller grossed $45.4 million at the worldwide box office, making back its budget more than ten times over. Cregger's next film, Weapons, is set for release in 2026 and will star Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, and Alden Ehrenreich.

New Line Cinema previously won the rights to Companion after a hot horror auction in early 2023.

The film's tagline reads “Hey you. Tired of swiping? Sick of getting ghosted? Are you feeling like a part of you is missing? FindYourCompanion.com is guaranteed to find you a Companion who's made for you.”

Companion will be released in UK cinemas on 10th January 2025.
