Netflix has revealed an official teaser for the second season of Squid Game, the Korean thriller series created by Hwang Dong-hyuk.
Squid Game focuses on 456 financially strained individuals competing for the chance to win an eye-watering grand prize. To do so, they have to overcome numerous lethal variations of popular children's games, often for the amusement of privileged onlookers. The show stars Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Yim Si-wan.
Season two will pick up after the climax of the first season, which sees winner Seong Gi-hun (Jung-jae) abandon his planned trip to the USA to return for the next game and attempt to dismantle the deadly event from the inside. Jung-jae recently made his English-language television debut in Disney's Star Wars series The Acolyte.

The official synopsis reads “Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the States and comes back with a new resolution in his mind. Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of ₩45.6 billion.”
A third season has also been confirmed and will be released sometime in 2025, according to Netflix. This will be Squid Game‘s final season.
Upon its release in 2021, Squid Game overtook Bridgerton as the most-watched series in Netflix's history. It was watched by 142 million member households and garnered 1.65 billion viewing hours in the first four weeks of its release. Additionally, the series became the first ever non-English language show to be nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. The show has also been recognised by the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Furthermore, a game show titled Squid Game: The Challenge was released in 2023.
Squid Game season two will be released on 26th December 2024.
