Despicable Me 4 has returned to the top of the UK box office, having been hosted by takings from National Cinema Day on 31st August.
The family animation made £1.24 million in its eighth week of release. Its total gross now stands at £44.6 million.
Screen Daily reports that the feature is set to become the franchise's highest-grossing title if it can surpass the £47.9 million of Despicable Me 3 (2017).
In second, Deadpool & Wolverine made £1.22 million in its sixth week. The 31% drop brings its total to £54.7 million. Disney's superhero comedy is 2024's second highest-grossing release and the fourth highest-grossing Marvel title to date.
Sony's It Ends With Us moves to third place, adding £1.1 million to its UK box office total in its fourth week. The Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni starring drama has earned £18.6 million.
In fourth place, Alien: Romulus made £1.08 million, a 47% drop from its second week. The seventh Alien instalment has grossed £10.8 million in total. It is nearing the box office total of Alien: Covenant (2017), which is the franchise's highest-grossing title with £12.9 million.
Andre Rieu's 2024 Maastricht Concert: Power Of Love debuted in fifth with £700,000. Additional screenings are expected in the next few weeks.
In its twelfth week, 2024's highest-grossing film Inside Out 2 made an additional £614,467. Disney's sequel has grossed a total of £58.2 million. Inside Out 2 has also surpassed The Lion King (2019) to become the highest-grossing animated film in history, having now made $1.667 billion worldwide.
Zoe Kravitz's directorial debut Blink Twice made £521,028 in its second week, bringing its total gross to £1.9 million. The psychological thriller stars Naomi Ackie as a waitress who's invited to a billionaire tech mogul's private island.
