Netflix has released a new trailer for the second season of Arcane: League of Legends.
Arcane first debuted in 2021. The steampunk animated series is set within the universe of the League of Legends (LoL) online game. It tells the origin story of key figures from LoL amidst a spiralling class war between the privileged elite and an impoverished undercity.
Riot Games, the company behind LoL, previously confirmed that season two of Arcane would be the last. The second season will be released on a currently unspecified date in November.
Returning cast members include Academy Award nominee Hailee Steinfeld as Vi and Fallout‘s Ella Purnell as her estranged sister Jinx. Katie Leung, Reed Shannon, and Ellen Thomas also return as Caitlyn, Ekko, and Ambessa Medarda respectively. Additionally, the new trailer features the character Warwick, making his first appearance in the series.
Steinfeld's other credits include True Grit (2010) and the Marvel Cinematic Universe series Hawkeye.
In 2022, Arcane became the first streaming series to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program. Season one debuted at the top of the Netflix Top 10 charts in 52 countries.
Series co-creator Christian Linke told Netflix “Arcane is just the beginning of our larger storytelling journey and partnership with the wonderful animation studio that is Fortiche. From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of Arcane wraps up with this second season. But Arcane is just the first of many stories that we want to tell.”
Furthermore, the distribution company GKIDS announced in July that it has secured the physical media riots to season one of Arcane. The Collector's Edition, 4K UHD and Standard Edition SteelBook Editions, and Blu-ray Standard Editions are all available to pre-order.
