A Gathering of the Angels, a brand new two-day festival celebrating the works of David Lynch, is coming to London in September.
Taking place at the London Irish Centre, programmed events include a screening of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (1992). The film is a prequel to the TV series Twin Peaks, which Lynch created alongside Mark Frost.
David Lynch is an American filmmaker who, in 2007, was described by The Guardian as “the most important filmmaker of the current era.” Aside from Twin Peaks, Lynch's other projects include the films The Elephant Man (1980), Blue Velvet (1986), and Mulholland Drive (2001). All three films saw Lynch receive nominations for the Academy Award for Best Director. His other credits include Eraserhead (1977), Dune (1984) and Wild at Heart (1990).
Different cast and crew from past Lynch projects will appear at the festival. This includes Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me actor Dana Ashbrook, executive producer Sabrina S. Sutherland, and The Elephant Man actor Leslie Dunlop. The organisers have also indicated that additional guest stars will be added to the roster ahead of the festival's launch.
Additionally, online panels will welcome writers, cinematographers, editors, and other creatives from projects such as Twin Peaks: The Return (2017), Mulholland Drive, and Lost Highway (1997). The panel on day one will focus on Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, whilst the panel on the second day will feature different collaborators across different projects.
As well as screenings and panels, the festival will also host Lynchian cabaret and burlesque performances in the evenings. Secret bars, quizzes, and immersive puzzle experiences will also feature. Additionally, the festival will include a resident tattoo artist.
A Gathering of the Angels takes place on the 14th and 15th of September 2024. Tickets and additional information are available online.
