Universal's Despicable Me 4 has debuted at the top of the UK box office.
The family comedy opened with £8.9 million, enough to displace Pixar's Inside Out 2. Steve Carell returns as the voice of Gru, along with Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, and Pierre Coffin.
Inside Out 2 moves down to second place, having earned £2.2 million in its fifth week. Reaching a total of £44.5 million, Screen Daily reports that the film may soon enter the top 50 highest-grossing films in the UK.
Longlegs, directed by Osgood Perkins, grossed £1.4 million in its first week at the UK box office. The horror follows an FBI agent who deciphers satanic clues to hunt down an elusive serial killer.
In fourth place, A Quiet Place: Day One grossed £825,000, taking its total UK gross to £8 million.
Fly Me to the Moon, starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, opened with £862,358, including previews. In Greg Berlanti's romantic comedy, a marketing specialist and the director of NASA collaborate to improve the agency's public image before the launch of Apollo 11.
In its sixth week, Bad Boys: Ride Or Die grossed £201,510, down 55%. It is ahead of The Bikeriders with £130,772, down 65%.
Additionally, MaXXXine's UK box office total rises to £787,377 having made £113,190 in its second week. It has become the highest-grossing film in director Ti West's X trilogy.
In its third week, Yorgos Lanthimos's Kinds Of Kindness has grossed £60,858. This takes the black comedy's UK box office total to £944,072.
Jason Yu's Sleep has opened with £18,575. The comedy thriller made its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023. It features Lee Sun-kyun, in his final film appearance, as a newlywed whose sleepwalking is terrifying his wife.
