Bad Boys: Ride or Die has debuted at the top of the UK box office, making £2.9 million across its opening weekend.
The sequel sees stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reprise their roles as Detective Sergeants Lowrey and Burnett. The pair are on the run from the authorities while trying to clear their former captain's name after he is accused of corruption.
It is the fourth film in the Bad Boys franchise. Screen Daily reports that it has opened with the second-lowest total in the series, behind Bad Boys For Life (2020) and Bad Boys II (2003).
John Krasinski's IF made an additional £866,000 to take second place. Its UK box office total now stands at over £10 million. The film has made over $160 million worldwide.
The Garfield Movie has moved down one place to third. The animated comedy made an additional £729,503 for Sony, for a current total of £7.4 million.
Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes is in fourth with £620,929. George Miller's Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga dropped 55% to earn £436,839 in its third week of release.
Ishana Night Shyamalan's debut feature, The Watched, opened in sixth place with £387,312. The film is produced by her father, director M. Night Shyamalan. The film stars Dakota Fanning, Olwen Fouéré, and Georgina Campbell.
Universal's action comedy The Fall Guy made an additional £313,442 during its sixth weekend. Its UK box office total now stands at £11.6 million.
Challengers made an additional £72,089 to take its current total to £6.4 million. It is ahead of Viggo Mortensen's Western The Dead Don't Hurt, which debuted with £71,695 at the UK box office.
Further down the rankings, Park Circus' 25th-anniversary rerelease of The Matrix (1999) opened with £45,538.
