The first trailer for Paddington in Peru has been released.
Paddington in Peru is the third film in the titular series, after Paddington (2014) and Paddington 2 (2017).
It also marks director Dougal Wilson's directorial debut. Wilson takes over from Paul King, who directed the previous two films. King is involved as a producer.
Paddington in Peru depicts Paddington's journey from London to Peru to visit his Aunt Lucy. Ben Whishaw and Imelda Staunton return as the voices for the beloved bears. Other returning members include Hugh Bonneville, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin and Julie Walters.
Additionally, Emily Mortimer replaces Sally Hawkins as Mary Brown. Hawkins filled the role in the first two films. New casting additions include Olivia Colman and Antonio Banderas.
Paddington in Peru‘s screenplay is written by Mark Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamont. It is based on a story from Burton, King, and Simon Farnaby, who co-wrote Paddington 2 alongside King.
Wilson has previously directed commercials, music videos, and short films. In 2022, he told Variety “As a huge fan of the first two films, I am very excited (if not a little intimidated) to be continuing the story of Paddington.
“It's a massive responsibility, but all my efforts will be focussed on making a third film that honours the love so many people have for this very special bear.”
The Paddington film series is based on the stories by Michael Bond, who debuted the character in 1958. Paddington has since been seen in three feature films, one television series, and even one short film for the Royal Family. Bond passed away in 2017.
Paddington in Peru was filmed in the United Kingdom, Colombiam and Peru. It will be distributed by StudioCanal.
Paddington in Peru is released in UK cinemas on 8th November 2024.
