A24 has announced that Ari Aster's Hereditary (2018) and Midsommar (2019) will be rereleased in IMAX this summer.
Midsommar, a folk horror film about a group of friends drawn into a violent Swedish cult, will be screening on select dates starting from the Summer Solstice. Hereditary, which focuses on a grieving family's torment at the hands of a demonic presence, will also be screened during this period.
Hereditary stars Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne, and Alex Wolff. Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, and Will Poulter lead the cast in Midsommar.

The two films grossed over $130 million at the global box office between them. Hereditary was previously A24's most successful film at the box office until it was displaced by Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022).
A24 has confirmed that the director's cut of Midsommar will be showing in cinemas, as opposed to the theatrical version. The director's cut was previously released on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK in October 2019. Compared to the theatrical version, the director's cut includes 23 minutes of additional footage.
VUE, Cineworld, and ODEON are all showing the films on select dates. Both Hereditary and Midsommar will also be playing at the BFI Southbank.
In a statement, Entertainment Film Distributors said that they are “pleased to announce a series of special never-before-seen in IMAX screenings of […] two of A24's critically acclaimed classic horrors.”
Hereditary, Aster's directorial debut, received several accolades upon its release. This includes the Most Promising Filmmaker for Aster from the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards. Midsommar meanwhile was previously nominated for Best Horror at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards.
Aster's other films include Beau is Afraid (2023), a tragicomedy horror starring Joaquin Phoenix. His latest film, Eddington, is currently in production.
Hereditary and Midsommar will be rereleased in cinemas from 20th June 2024.
