The Academy Award-winning director and screenwriter has created a short film in collaboration with German luxury brand Montblanc, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Meisterstück pen.

The film features Anderson himself as well as frequent collaborators Jason Schwartzman and Rupert Friend. The trio explore the beauty of the mountain and write in the Montblanc Observatory High-Mountain Library.

Additional promotional material is planned with actors Maude Apatow and Waris Ahluwalia. They will be joined by the Montblanc Mark Maker and Korean actor Lee Jinuk, as well as Montblanc Global Brand Ambassador Jing Boran.

In a statement, said that “For 100 years, the Meisterstück has captured millions of stories, passing through the hands of authors, creatives, and everyday writers. It was finally time to make this writing icon the protagonist of the story, but we wanted to do it in a way that was completely unexpected and surprising. That's why we invited Wes Anderson, one of today's great storytellers, to put his own unique spin on the world of Montblanc through his inimitable storytelling and unmistakable visual identity.”

As part of the Meisterstück collaboration, a limited edition pen designed by Anderson's team called the Schreiberling (the scribbler) will be available from May 2025.

Anderson has previously directed shorts for companies such as H&M, Stella Artois, and SoftBank. He has also directed several short films for the Italian luxury house Prada.

The Wonderful World of Henry Sugar (2023), Wes Anderson's short film based on the 1977 story by Roald Dahl, won Best Live Action Short at the 96th Academy Awards. He is well known for films such as The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Moonrise Kingdom (2012), and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).

Anderson is working on his next film The Phoenician Scheme, though a release date has not been announced
