Amazon MGM Studios has announced that a sequel to the Prime Video original Red, White & Royal Blue (2023) is in development.
The first film was the platform's number-one movie in its premiere weekend. Deadline also reported that the film is now in the top three most-watched romantic comedies in Prime Video's history. Red, White & Royal Blue also won the GLAAD Media Award for Queer Fan Favourite earlier this month.
The film is based on Casey McQuiston's bestselling novel of the same name. The author also wrote One Last Stop (2021) and I Kissed Shara Wheeler (2022).
Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez are set to reprise their respective roles as Prince Henry, heir to the British throne, and the American President's son Alex Claremont-Diaz. Sarah Shahi, Stephen Fry, and Uma Thurman featured in supporting roles, although it is unclear whether any of them will also return.

Perez commemorated the news on his Instagram, sharing photos of himself and the other cast members with the caption “something to celebrate.” McQuiston also celebrated the announcement on social media.
Matthew López, who made his directorial feature debut with Red, White & Royal Blue, will also be returning to the sequel as director and scriptwriter. McQuiston herself has also joined the creative team, as a writer and executive producer.
McQuiston was previously asked by Forbes last December about a potential sequel. At the time, the author responded “I mean, look – I would love to see more, too. I think that's all I can say about that.”
Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Schechter Films are set to produce the sequel, along with Michael McGrath.
No official release date for the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel has been confirmed, and production has yet to begin on the film. Plot details have also not been disclosed.
