Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes Heads UK Box Office For Second Week

Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes has remained at the head of the UK rankings, earning £2.2 million in its second week.

Directed by Wes Ball, Disney's science fiction action film is the fourth instalment in the Planet of the Apes reboot and the tenth in the franchise overall.

A 37% drop from week one takes the film's UK gross to £7.7 million.

John Krasinski's IF has debuted in second place, with £1.8 million. Screen Daily reports that the film opened in 650 locations and earned £642,727 from previews.

IF, which is an acronym for ‘imaginary friends', combines live-action and animation. Its all-star ensemble cast includes Ryan Reynolds, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Awkwafina, and George Clooney.

In third place, Universal's The Fall Guy grossed £874,247 in its third week, down by only 7% from week two. This brings the action comedy's total gross to £8.2 million.

In its fourth week, Luca Guadagnino's Challengers moves down to fifth place with £291,416. Warner Bros' sports romance has now made £5.3 million.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 debuted fourth at the , with £452,507. The horror reboot is the first instalment of the trilogy, with chapter two set to be released this year.

Back to Black's total rises to £11.7 million, as it made £166,802 in its sixth week.

Over three days in 403 cinemas, Transformers: 40th Anniversary Event made £109,470. The release is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original Transformers animated series.

La Chimera, featuring Challengers' Josh O'Conner, made £99,178 in its second week. This 40% rise from week one takes its total to £289,210.

In its third week, the supernatural horror Tarot made an additional £88,054 to get over the £1 million mark.
