has announced new cast members for the third season of Heartstopper.

Back to Black's Eddie Marsan will be playing the role of Charlie's therapist Geoff, while Agent Carter's Hayley Atwell has been cast as Nick's Aunt, Diane. Bridgerton's Jonathan Bailey will star as Charlie's Instagram crush, Jack Maddox. Variety reports that Marsan and Atwell will play more central roles, while Bailey will be doing a cameo.

In November 2023, Darragh Hand was cast as Michael Holden. Other changes to the cast include the departure of Sebastian Croft as Ben Hope.

Andy Newberry is also taking over from Euros Lyn as director. Newberry has previously worked on series such as 15 DaysHidden, and Shetland.

Season two of Heartstopper followed Nick and Charlie as they started opening up to others about their relationship. The two faced the challenges of coming out, bullying, and dealing with mental health struggles. On a school trip to Paris, Nick was reunited with his French father, while supervising teachers Mr Farouk and Mr Ajayi began to explore feelings for one another. Season two was also notable for showing Isaac's discovery of his asexuality.

Though a trailer has not yet been released, season three will likely to continue following the trajectory of Heartstopper writer and creator Alice Oseman's graphic novels. Oseman spoke to Netflix about expectations for the upcoming season, saying “While Heartstopper will always celebrate the joyful and point towards hope, I'm really excited that we are allowing the tone of the show to mature alongside our beloved characters growing up.

“Nick, Charlie, and the Heartstopper teens are getting older, learning more about themselves and each other, and experiencing new desires, new fears, and new joys as they approach adulthood.”

Season three of Heartstopper releases at an unconfirmed date in October 2024.
