Arrow Video has announced that Loop Track, the psychological drama from director Tom Sainsbury, will be released on Blu-ray and digital this July.
Loop Track previously had its world premiere at the 2023 New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF). It also played at the Screamfest Horror Festival in October and the Anomaly Film Festival in November.
As well as directing, Sainsbury stars in the lead role of Ian Thompson, who sets off on a solo hike across the New Zealand wilderness. His paranoia and fears begin to get the better of him after encountering another group of hikers, and once it emerges that there is an invisible threat that follows them on their journey.
Loop Track marks Sainsbury's feature film directorial debut. Hayden J. Weal, Tawanda Manyimo, and Kate Simmonds also star.
Sainsbury previously told NZIFF that Loop Track “Originated with a single image—someone on an isolated bush walk seeing a figure in the far distance. They can't make out exactly what they're looking at, but the figure's presence feels malevolent.”
The limited edition Blu-ray's special features include a director's commentary, a cast introduction, and a double-sided foldout poster. A copy of Sainbsury's (Time) Travel Centre (2016) is also included. The short was the Grand National Winner of the 48HOURS Film Festival in 2016.
Sainsbury has previously starred in numerous New Zealand film, television, and theatre productions. His previous acting credits include roles in Guns Akimbo (2020) starring Daniel Radcliffe, and in Baby Done (2020) starring Rose Matafeo. Sainsbury also co-wrote the series Wellington Paranormal (2018-2022) alongside Jemaine Clement, Paul Yates, Melanie Bracewell, and Jessica Hansell. The series is a spin-off of Clement and Taika Waititi's What We Do in the Shadows (2014).
Loop Track is released on Blu-ray, Digital and ARROW in the UK on 8th July 2024.
