has released the first official trailer for its upcoming dark thriller, Blink Twice.

Formerly titled Pussy Island, the film follows the story of tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) who makes a connection with a cocktail waitress called Frida (Naomi Ackie) at a fundraising gala. After sparks fly, he invites her to join him and his friends for a dream vacation on his private island. No one wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality.

Blink Twice marks the directorial debut of Zoe Kravitz, who also wrote the script alongside High Fidelity‘s ET Feigenbaum. Kravitz's acting credits include Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) and The Batman (2022).

Kravitz has previously spoken more about the film with The Hollywood Reporter, saying that Blink Twice was originally inspired by “The lack of conversation around the way women are treated specifically in the entertainment industry.” She also noted that since the film was originally written “Pre–#MeToo, pre–Harvey [Weinstein],” the script has undergone substantial changes. Kravitz says that the film “Became more about a power struggle and what that power struggle means.”

Alongside Tatum and Ackie, Kyle MacLachlan, Haley Joel Osment, and Christian Slater also star.

When asked about Tatum's casting, Kravitz told THR that “Looking at his work and hearing him speak about Magic Mike and the live show, I'm like, I think he's a feminist. You need to be so far from who this is, where it's not scary. And I don't think we've ever seen him play someone dark. I'm excited to see him do that.”

Adria Arjona, Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, and Geena Davis round off the cast.

Blink Twice is released in cinemas worldwide on 23rd August 2024.
