The Crow: First Trailer Released For ’90s Reboot

The Crow 2024 Trailer

has released the first trailer for The Crow, a reboot of the 1994 cult classic superhero film of the same name starring Brandon Lee.

The new film sees Bill Skarsgård take on the role of Eric Draven, AKA The Crow, who is brought back from death to seek bloody revenge on those responsible for killing his darling fiancée Shelly (FKA Twigs). The cast also includes Isabella Wei, Danny Huston, Laura Birn, and Sami Bouajila.

The Crow is directed by Rupert Sanders, best known for Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) and Ghost in the Shell (2017). It is based on James O'Barr's comic series, which has seen over 45 issues published since the character made his debut in 1989.

The new film has been in development since 2008. Before Skarsgård's involvement was confirmed in April 2022, other actors reportedly cast in the lead role at some point during development include Luke Evans, Bradley Cooper, and Jason Momoa. 28 Weeks Later's Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was originally tipped to direct.

Skarsgård is most widely known for his role as Pennywise the Clown in It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019), as well as John Wick: Chapter 4 (2024) in which he plays the villainous Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont.

The 1994 film, directed by Alexander Proyas, is credited as one of the best comic book adaptations of the 1990s, furthering the popularity of the decade's goth revival. It spawned three sequels; The Crow: City of Angels (1996), The Crow: Salvation (2000), and The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005).

The film's star, Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee), was accidentally killed on set during the film's production. John Wick's Chad Stahelski, who was Lee's stunt double, and digital face replacement were used to complete filming.

The Crow is released in cinemas worldwide on 7th June 2024.
