Eddington: Cast Details Revealed For New A24 Western

Eddington Ari Aster Cast

A24 has announced cast members for Ari Aster's upcoming new film Eddington.

The new film, described by A24 as a “contemporary ,” will star Oscar-winner Emma Stone, Pedro Pascal, and Austin Butler. Joaquin Phoenix will also appear in the film, having worked with Aster on the director's most recent project Beau is Afraid (2023).

Luke Grimes, Michael Ward, and Deirdre O'Connell have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

The announcement follows Stone's recent win at the Academy Awards for Best Actress for her performance as Bella Baxter in Poor Things, her latest collaboration with Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, which also earned her a nomination for Best Picture as a producer. Butler meanwhile was nominated for an Oscar last year for his titular performance in Elvis.

In February, Pascal won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor for his work as Joel in Craig Mazin's TV adaptation of The Last of Us, which recently confirmed some of its Season 2 cast.

Aster rose to fame with his horror debut Hereditary (2018), which explores the complicated family dynamics arising after a series of deaths. Starring Toni Colette, Alex Wolff and Milly Shapiro, Hereditary was A24's highest-grossing film until it was surpassed by Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022). Aster followed the success of his debut film with Midsommar (2019), a folk horror starring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, and Will Poulter.

Beau is Afraid saw Phoenix nominated for a Golden Globe, although it only recouped a third of its total budget at the box office.

Eddington, a co-production between A24 and Aster's own production company Square Peg, has no set release date yet and is currently filming in New Mexico. Aster is also writing the script for Eddington, and is working with fellow Square Peg producer Lars Knudsen.
